Punam Kersten - Tennis | United States

Courting Excellence! President of the San Antonio Professional Tennis Association, Punam Kersten has been teaching the popular sport of tennis to men and women of all ages for over 21 years. A certified tennis teaching professional, Punam's students have included locally, state and nationally ranked junior players as well as U.S. Tennis Association adult league teams. In 2005, Punam received the prestigious USPTA Industry Excellence Award for her many contributions to widening public participation in tennis, such as starting a USPTA Adult Tennis League that has grown to more than 1,000 players; helping to begin a wheelchair tennis program for Iraq war veterans; and leading a joint USTA/USPTA pilot program for outreach to Hispanics. In addition, she has conducted coaching seminars in New Delhi, India, helping to train 200 recreational coaches. She is passionate about teaching tennis and is a leader within her industry, serving on the USTA Texas Section Executive Board and member for the USTA National Committee.
