Phillips Idowu

A member of the London-based Belgrave Harriers athletic club, Idowu is one of the top triple-jumbers in the world. In 2008 he won his frist world title taking the gold medal at the IAAF World Indoor Championships, followed by the silver medal in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Phillips is more than just a world-class triple jumper, he is a force of nature. Even  if you had never heard his name before, 2007 and 2008 put an end to that.

  • 2007-Gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham. He recorded a championship record jump of 17.56 metres, beating the exisiting world-leading jump by 12cm
  • 2007-Won the IAAF Golden League Bislett Games with a distance of 17.35m (56'11").
  • 2008-Gold medal at the IAAF World Indoor Championship in Valencia, Spain. His jumb of 17.75m also broke the British and Commonwealth Indoor record previously held.
  • 2008-Won the men's triple-jump title at the British Olympic Trials with a distance of 17.58m—the longest jump of 2008. He followed up with further jumps of 17.57m and 17.27m.
  • 2008-Takes home a silver medal from the Beijing Olympics.

All of the above contributed to Phillips being named Male Athlete of the Year at the British Athletics Writers' Association's 46th annual awards dinner in a poll among BAWA members.

"I find that using Mannatech products really helps to keep me both strong and light. Beforehand, I would find it easy to increase my strength by doing weights but I would often bulk up, however now my weight stays stable. I find they aid my recovery from training thus making me feel full of energy, even when training three times a day."
