Melissa Gorman was Australia’s first and only female selected to contest the 10km Marathon Swimming event at the Beijing Olympic Games. At the age of 23, this first time Olympian has stamped her name in the history books as Australia’s first ever Olympian in the sport of Open Water Swimming. Finishing 15th in her Olympic Debut, Melissa is determined to improve on her performances in the years to come. Melissa is one of Australia’s leading distance and Open Water swimmers. She is a determined young athlete who loves the sport, is dedicated to her dream of swimming for Australia at the Olympics, and is committed to pursuing a good education to complement her sporting goals.

Melissa recently competed in the 2009 FINA World Championships in Italy and snatched Gold from the reigning open water champion in the 5km event.

“Training ten times a week in the pool, plus a few gym and running sessions, can really tire the body and push your immune system to the limits,” says Melissa.  “But since taking Mannatech products I’ve been able to stay healthy and get the most out of every training session”
