Krista Pohorenec - Swimming | United States

Krista Pohorenec, the Florida Special Olympics swimming champion, has been recognized by the County Commission of Seminole County for her work with children who have special needs. The Commission cited Krista's "energetic spirit, inspiration, compassionate heart and love of swimming" in recognizing her dedication and commitment. Krista, who wants to be a teacher's aide after her swimming career ends, enjoys speaking with parents of special-needs children. Krista began swimming at age eight and swam the grueling Alcatraz to raise awareness that all people have aspirations.
