Graciela Gomez - Basketball | Mexico

Her sports and personal athletic goal is to stay fit and healthy regardless of age. Her life’s goal is to grow in love, knowledge, harmony and happiness so she can share more fully with others. She was among the top basketball players in the 1987 Pan American Games, coached basketball—including the Mexico Jr. National Men’s team—and even founded a basketball school. 

But perhaps Graciela Beatriz Lopez Gomez’s most important accomplishment of all is being mom to her son and daughter.

“I ended my active sports career to raise my two children some time ago,” she says. “Later on, I became a basketball coach and taught the sport to my son along with many other boys and girls 9 to 18 years old. My son, Carlos, is performing great in basketball.”

What advice does Graciela’s have for her own children, as well as other young athletes? “Join a team, be coachable, practice hard and play with enthusiasm,” she says. “Try to become better every day.”
