Clayton Pool - Hockey | Canada
Clayton started playing hockey at a very young age. At the age of sixteen he moved away from home to pursue his passion of playing hockey. He would play one year of junior 'A' hockey before moving up to play 3 years in the WHL, the top junior hockey league in Canada. After his junior career was over, Clayton decided to attend university on a scholarship and chose the University of Alberta, which is known for its prestigious hockey program. In his first year of university hockey, Clayton won rookie of the year for all Canadian University hockey and was also named to the All-Canadian team. Most importantly, he was in goal when his University of Alberta Golden Bears won the National Championship in double overtime. He would be named to the All-Canadian team two more times and set several team and Canada West goaltending records during his university career. After completing university, Clayton turned pro. At the age of 25, he moved to Muskegon, MI along with his wife and two girls to join the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League. There he would win another championship, the Colonial Cup, in his rookie year. He continued to play in Muskegon for 5 years for the Fury and the Lumberjacks in his final year. After a short hiatus, Clayton signed with the Fort St. John Flyers in B.C., Canada and in the spring of 2010 he was in goal to help the Flyers win their first ever National Championship, hoisting the Allan Cup in front of the home town fans of Fort St. John. He has joined the team once again for another shot at the 103 year old Allan Cup.
