Desai Williams - Track & Field | Canada
One of Canada's most famous track and field athletes, Desai Williams was born June 12, 1959, in the tiny Caribbean nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Desai won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 x 100-meter relay in Los Angeles in 1984. He also competed at several World Championships, where he reached semi-final rounds in both 1983 and 1987. He set his personal best 200-meter time with 20.29 seconds in 1983, and then his 100-meter personal best mark of 10.11 seconds, sufficient to earn a 6th place finish at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. After Seoul, Desai worked six years for the American National Red Cross, supervising the movement and feeding of evacuees in the wake of a number of natural disasters in North America and the Caribbean. Desai now coaches Canadian track and field athletes.
